We have had great success at past competitions and hope to continue for years to come. Trampoline is a very inclusive activity, no matter your gender, ability, or age. We train at a UK renowned facility a 10 min minibus journey away from the university campus which gives us access to 8 trampolines, a double-mini trampoline, and a foam pit. We have the best facilities out of any other university club in Scotland.
Competitons
All competitions that we attend range in levels from complete beginner (novice) to pro-elite. At training, with help from the competition secretary, you will get to try out routines to find out what best suits your ability. Everyone is welcome to attend competitions, with your individual entry fees being included in your membership, however you can also come along to spectate and cheer on your fellow teammates. GUTC is a part of Scottish Student Trampoline (SST) who organise our 3 league competitions along with our training weekend. The 2nd comp is the biggest within Scotland and is called SSTO which stands for Scottish Student Trampoline Open. Individuals across the UK and sometimes abroad come to Edinburgh for a super fun competition weekend! While each league features socials with a range of different themes. League 3 will also include Bouncy Ball – a big end of term celebration for all Scottish Student Trampoline members. We are also fortunate enough to travel to Ireland to compete at a 4-day long competition, as well as England competitions every now and again.
Recreational
All members of our club are rec members, and some then chose to compete. There is no pressure to compete, with many of our members just coming along for the fun of training.
Training
We currently have 3 sessions per week.
- Monday 20:30-22:30 – Sparta Trampoline Club
- Wednesday 20:15-22:00 – Stevenson Building
- Friday 19:30-21:30 – Sparta Trampoline Club.
You can go to as many or as few sessions as you would like. There is no minimum amount per week
Socials
In between competitions, training and well-deserved rest, GUTC holds a wide range of inclusive get-togethers. Nights out and nights in, themed and 'just show up', ceilidhs and dinners (to name only a few) – our social calendar is extensive and caters for all!
Insurance
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the appropriate insurance cover for any activity you take part in. Upon joining, please check the level of insurance cover we, as a club, provide to you.
GUSA recommends that all students playing high risk sport, go abroad to compete/train, or are playing in governing body leagues, may want to consider/need to take out personal liability insurance, or join the sports governing body to be covered. Some insurance providers also offer specialist sports cover.
