On Thursday 11th April 2024, Dr. Ghassan Abu-Sittah was installed as the Rector of the University of Glasgow.
The Rector is a position nominated and elected by UofG students, and Dr. Abu-Sittah secured over 80% of the votes, marking a record turnout.
Speaking at the Installation, SRC President Hailie addressed the Rector:
"We now have an opportunity to forge an impactful working relationship, to make it our own, and to set a precedent for how we engage successfully in the coming weeks and throughout the next three years of your term.
I am looking forward to working alongside you to champion the student voice, and to develop the foundations of a strong partnership dedicated to representing our students."
