Created for and by the South Asian students of the University of Glasgow, the Desi Society aims to foster an inclusive home-away-from-home atmosphere by bringing together the diverse cultures of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan, but is in no way exclusive to these countries! Anyone who is interested in South Asian language, culture and cuisine is welcome to join! This year, we hope to provide opportunities to reconnect with our roots by making South Asian cuisine and media more accessible to the students at University of Glasgow, as well as events affiliated with established South Asian organisations in Glasgow that encourage community and new friendships that start to feel like family.
