We have been around in some form or another at UofG for over 15 years and have been catering to anime lovers and newbies ever since.
We host regular screenings every Thursday, as well as being involved many collab events throughout the semester. For the most up to date info on each screening make sure to check our socials and discord!
About Us
We are a friendly and welcoming society that aims to bring people together through their common interest in anime, manga and other related Japanese pop culture like VTubers and J-pop.
Don’t worry if you’re new to the space, we welcome everyone of any interest level and experience with anime and manga, so come along and find your next binge!
Other than our events, most of the chatting happens on our Discord Server. We post the information about upcoming events and have channels for many different interests, as well as some silly ones too. If you have never used discord before, we have a how to section there to help you out!

We currently have 7 committee roles. President, Secretary, Treasurer, Welfare Officer, Social Convenor, Media Manager and OCM (+ 1st year OCM).
Elections for these positions are held at our yearly AGM over the summer, with 1st year OCM being elected at the beginning of semester 1. These positions are open to any Student of Glasgow University.
Meet the 2024/2025 GUMAF committee (there will also be a post on our Instagram page)
Types of Membership:
Standard Membership: University of Glasgow students
Associate Membership: Non-UofG students
Straw Hat Membership: Paid membership
Straw hat:
For £5 for the year, you can become a straw hat member. By doing so you get a custom discord badge colour and gain access to exclusive channels on discord where you get to vote on the weekly screening theme and know it earlier than regular members.
Not only that, but it is a great way to help out your favourite anime society. Funds from memberships are a way to donate and support to the society! These donations help us be able to do bigger events on and off campus and help us keep the majority of our events free.
