We’re a society that allows for students who are care-experienced, estranged or both to come together and find other people with similar backgrounds and histories. Though even if you aren't care-experienced nor estranged, we're a non-judgmental, welcoming space that is open to all. We also hope to act as a platform for any change that may be necessary to accommodate students who may struggle more due to their circumstances.
Meet the committee!
President: Elle Mackilligan (They/Them)

- Hobbies/Interests: Reading, writing, drawing, anime and manga, swimming
- Favourite TV show: The Bear

Why I Joined The Society:
I wanted a student led organisation that speaks on behalf of care-experienced and estranged students, and to have more interactions with care-experienced and estranged students during my time at university. My main goal is to make sure care-experienced and estranged students don't need to worry when it comes to finding a place to live, so hopefully we can do something to make it easier for everyone.

Why I Joined The Society:

Secretary: Jin Petrovic (He/Him)
- Subject: 3rd Year Psychology
- Favourite spot on campus: A specific place in JMS, but I'm gatekeeping
- Hobbies/Interests: I like cooking all sorts of food! The process of preparing each ingredient meticulously, but also having the freedom to do it imperfectly is what makes it so fun. Also please talk to me about dogs!
- Favourite TV Show: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
- Favourite Artist/Band: Currently a tie between Kizu and Hyde
Why I Joined The Society:
At first I joined just to see what it would be like; not ever having known anyone with similar circumstances made things feel quite lonely. Knowing that there's so many others who understand was a relief, even though I wish it didn't have to be this way. Yet, everyone's been so welcoming and kind ever since that day I chose to come to campus for some coffee and cakes! So when talks of building a society for care-experienced and estranged students began, I knew I wanted to contribute somehow, so that others can benefit from this wonderful opportunity too, whether they just need signposting or be around people who get it, and welcome them with open arms.
