The Kelvin Ensemble is a student run symphony orchestra performing works chosen by the student committee throughout the year.
The Kelvin Ensemble (commonly referred to as Kelvin) is the student-run orchestra for students at universities in Glasgow. We are a very friendly group of people, studying a wide range of courses, and are passionate about music!
We usually start auditioning for members at the end of September, and hold one concert at the end of Semester 1 (November) and Semester 2 (March).
We play a wide range of symphony music, chosen by the student committee. Previously, our repertoire included the works of Tchaikovsky, Antonín Dvorák, Georges Bizet, and Copland. A full list of our previous concerts can be found on our website.
We usually have regular rehearsals on Tuesday evenings in the Concert Hall — one of the rooms within the UofG Main Building. We will often have additional rehearsals in the weekends during the run-up to concerts.
We have many people eager to join Kelvin, so we hold auditions at the beginning of each academic year. For more information, please visit our website.
