About

Korfball is a mixed-gender sport originating in the Netherlands but popular across British universities. Come and join us for a fun, relaxed, social sporting experience!

Glasgow University Korfball Club is a new society, introducing UoG students to the mixed-gender sport of korfball. Korfball is fast-paced and exciting, and GUKC offers a welcoming and supportive environment for new players - no experience needed!

The rules of korfball are somewhere inbetween netball and basketball. There are 8 players on each team, everyone is involved in both attacking and defending over the course of a game, and the aim is to shoot the ball through the korf (basket) on top of a 3.5m-high post (a bit higher than netball or basketball). Players cannot run with the ball or shoot when in reach of a defender, so the key to the game is passing between teammates and intelligent or sharp movement around the court.

Almost everyone joining GUKC has never played korfball before, so our training sessions will start right from the beginning; focusing on basic skills, learning the rules of the game, and having fun!

We are proud to be an LGBTQIA+ friendly club.
