Celebrate Black History Month at the University of Glasgow!
Following the global spread of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, and building on the legacy of countless civil rights movements that came before, celebrating Black History Month is more important than ever.
The month is an opportunity to keep up the momentum to continue the fight for change in our society, and at the same time heighten public awareness of the massive impact of Black people and Black voices on the history of our country. It's about looking back, but also looking ahead to how we can challenge our current systems to be more inclusive and diverse.
Throughout October, we're hosting a series of exciting events where you can connect, learn, and celebrate Black history and culture alongside your fellow students. From food mixers to film nights, there's something for everyone! The SRC will be working with clubs, societies and the University to bring you a number of exciting events and activities.
The event list can be found below. More events will be added as the month goes on so consider signing up to our mailing list to hear about Black History Month updates.
We encourage all students to participate and share their own experiences. Let's make this Black History Month a truly collaborative and meaningful celebration!
