Seben Akman (she/they)

Hiya! I’m your average tech bro wannabe-but-never-be Turkish delight Seben! What matters most to me as a candidate for the school rep is making our computer science experience clear, engaging, and genuinely enjoyable.

Lectures should be delivered at a pace that works for everyone: challenging, but easy to follow and well-explained. I’ll push for teaching that’s not just informative, but fun and interactive, so we actually enjoy learning the material.

I also believe Computer Science should encourage creativity. Whether you're interested in AI, software development, cybersecurity, or something else entirely, we should have flexible pathways and clearer specialisation options from early on in the course.

Community matters too. I’d love to organise more socials for computer science students, especially spaces that encourage and support girls in CS, so everyone feels welcome and connected.

Finally, I want to improve consistency in lab support. While many tutors are brilliant, the experience shouldn’t depend on who you happen to ask. I’ll work to ensure clearer guidance and stronger support across all labs.

I’m here to listen, represent you properly, and make real improvements.

Loveeee,

Seben (she/they)

Yehor Mykhailov (he/him)

Practical Change. Industry Standards. Your Voice.

I am standing for School Representative to deliver measurable improvements, not just attend meetings. As a current 2nd Year Class Representative, I have shown that structured dialogue supported by evidence and persistence leads to real results.

The OOSE2 Example

This year, I worked directly with the OOSE2 lecturer to improve the course based on student feedback. By organising concerns into a clear proposal, we achieved meaningful adjustments that better aligned the course with student expectations. I understand how academic processes work and how to make them work for students.

My Priorities:

1. A Unified Rep Network. An API for Student Voice

Student concerns should not remain isolated. I will build a coordinated network of Class Representatives that acts as a clear interface between students and staff, collecting, prioritising, and communicating issues so they are addressed efficiently.

2. Industry Ready Degrees

Our assessments should reflect real development environments. I will advocate for stronger exposure to collaborative workflows, automated testing, CI CD practices, cloud tools, and responsible AI use so we graduate confident and competitive.

3. Consistent, Measurable Feedback

Monthly questionnaires will ensure feedback is regular, tracked, and acted upon.

Focused. Coordinated. Effective.

Boshen Yang

Hello everyone!

My name is Boshen Yang, a first year Computing Science student, and I’m running for the School of Computing Representative position.

One of my main reasons for applying is because I want to increase student networking opportunities and improve everyone’s learning experience.

Over the past months, I have been lucky to participate in various events and surround myself with peers and seniors, from whom I’ve learnt so much. I have experienced firsthand how important these connections are so I want to help organize more socials and fairs where people can make new friends, learn from each other and possibly get in touch with industry workers.

Holding two class rep positions, I have also found it very rewarding to work with my classmates and turn suggestions into actual changes. I would love to continue being a friendly point of contact for any worries and recommendations you may have. I attend many society events so you can easily find me at those or just as easily contact me online.

Thank you for your support. Together, we can create a welcoming environment where everyone can connect and strive to make positive improvements to the School of Computing Science.
