Santiago Rivero Fafian (he/him)

Salutations! I’m Santiago Rivero, a fourth-year engineering student. As a former class representative, I’ve seen how crucial it is to have strong communication and support systems for students. I aim to build on this experience to make our School of Engineering more connected and dynamic.
My priorities are:
- Fostering communication between staff and students: Some decisions made by the school of Engineering are done with little student consultation. If elected I will try to make these decisions transparent.
- Community Building: Students and societies accomplish amazing things that can go unnoticed, if elected, I plan to work with societies and students to try to communicate achievements better.
- Changing the way class representative meetings work: Currently, there is only one meeting mid-semester, which means that major problems might not get picked up as the courses have just started. If elected, I want to increase the opportunities to raise issues, so that problems can be communicated as soon as they arise.
As your School Convenor, I will be dedicated to representing all students and ensuring your voices are heard, along with the class representatives. Together, we can build a stronger, more collaborative future for engineering at the University of Glasgow.
