Ellie Hughes
Hi, my name is Ellie Hughes and I’m in my 4th year studying mathematics and statistics. The main reason I want to run for maths and statistics school representative is to improve communication between staff and students and streamline the flow of information within the school.
Last year as class representative I was able to address issues faced by students such as outdated course materials, break down in communication with staff and the possibility of a reading week being introduced at the bi-annual SSLC meetings. Being school representative would allow me to represent the student voice at a higher-level, assisting students in resolving issues, while continuing to be a link between staff and students.
I would also like to build a sense of community within the school by connecting students through events ran by the maths and stats society and through the peer assisted learning scheme.
Nidhishvarr Ramakrishnan
Hi everyone! I’m Nidhishvarr, and I’m running to be your School Representative for Mathematics & Statistics. I’m passionate about making our School a better place to study, connect, and thrive.
University life can be challenging, especially with the pressures of coursework and exams. I understand these challenges, and I believe that by working together, we can create a more supportive and rewarding experience.
Here’s what I’ll focus on if elected:
Better Communication: I’ll ensure everyone stays informed about important updates, events, and opportunities in our department.
More Study Events: I’ll organize group study sessions before exams so we can collaborate, share knowledge, and learn together.
Support When It Matters: Maths can be tough, and I’ll make sure students always have someone to talk to and the support they need.
More Study Resources: I’ll push for better access to study spaces and workshops to help us all succeed.
Your Feedback, Your Voice: I’ll be available one day each week on campus to hear your concerns and ensure they’re acted on.
I’m eager to learn and grow alongside you. If elected, I’ll work hard to ensure our voices are heard and we get the support we need
Azel Zhuman
Hi all, I am Azel from Almaty, a beautiful city in Kazakhstan.
I’m studying Data Analytics since this September.
By giving brief information: I struggled for over half of the year just to become a student of UofG, I had many choices to be in, but last was the best University in Scotland, in my opinion. This means that I'm hardworking and responsible for every task I have.
I want to share my background: from the very first day of my bachelor's, I was ahead of the faculty flow. A short time later, I was a President of Student Council at Faculty and Vice of all University. That pretty nice experience helped me to have an exchange semester in one German university, where I was a member of the Student Council of the faculty, organizing some international events.
Now on, my campaign:
- As an International student, I’m sure that most of us miss home and culture. It would be so specific to organize some intercultural events to get other World changers involved.
- I would suggest organizing some academic clubs to help for those students who has some problems with understanding subjects.
Waiting for your votes, World Changers!!
