Hamnah Asif
Hello everyone, my name is Hamnah Asif (she/her) and I’m a first-year medical student. I'm running for School Representative of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing. Despite having to take a break, I became motivated to apply for this role after taking part in many societies and serving as a Class Representative.
There are many topics that are important to me, and I want to contribute so that everyone has a more fulfilling and supportive university experience.
Our degrees are not easy, so I’d like to continue to advocate for ‘Mind Your Mate’/ ‘Look After Yourself’ workshops, and push for more events to help students to manage pressure during exams.
I’m also Year 1 Rep for SWAG and so I’d like to support initiatives during International Women’s Week to highlight gender disparities in healthcare fields as well as advocating for safer clinical environments.
I aim to work closely with class representatives so that student feedback is taken on to create an action plan.
Additionally, I personally understand how hard it is to receive reimbursement when travelling and would like to work towards a smoother process for students.
If elected, I hope I can represent you in achieving these goals and more!
Emily Greig
Hi, I’m Emily a fourth year medical student and I would like to be elected as your school representative for medicine, dentistry and nursing. I was a class rep in year 3 and additionally sat on the assessment committee as the year 3 rep. This means I have a wealth of experience ensuring your views are represented to schools and senior staff members.
As vocational degrees I believe we require a different type of support from the university and our schools. As such I will ensure we maintain and further develop within our class reps and year groups for open communication across our school. This will ensure that we are best represented by our peers to the appropriate staff to instigate change.
As a class rep myself I noticed that unfortunately our school is not always receptive to constructive feedback with new suggestions for improvement. I will ensure I support our class reps so that they can effectively do their jobs and hopefully students will feel listened to and start to see changes and improvements through the school.
Thank you for your consideration of me to be your school rep.
Ebrahim Rezaei
Hi everyone! I’m Ebrahim Rezaei, a second-year medical student running to represent all students—whether in medicine, dentistry, or nursing. We share the same goal: to excel, and I believe, together, we can enhance our student experience.
Here’s what I plan to do:
- Well-Being Support: Introduce “well-being windows”—dedicated times for relaxation activities, helping us recharge and stay focused.
- Learning Accessibility: Ensure PowerPoints and pre-recorded lectures are consistently available before in-person sessions, so we can prepare effectively.
- More Practical Experience: Push for more hands-on training, including optional after-school sessions to boost confidence before clinical placements.
- Functional Dental Phantoms: Make sure dental phantoms are regularly maintained, so dental students have reliable equipment to practise on.
- Financial Fairness: Expand travel reimbursements and financial support for placements, easing financial pressure.
- Bringing Back Cafés: Work to reopen cafés in the Wolfson Building, providing a comfortable space to relax and study.
- Improved Study Spaces: Advocate for better study spaces across campus, including in dental and medical hospitals, ensuring all students have quiet places to learn.
I’ll also visit students in person regularly to listen to your concerns.
Vote Ebrahim Rezaei—let’s make a difference together!
