Salem Gelidi

Hi everyone! I’m Salem Gelidi, a second-year Software Engineering student and former class rep. Through my role, and conversations with many students, I’ve gained a clear understanding of the key issues we face. If elected as your College Convenor, I’ll work to bring real, tangible change, increasing research funding and expanding career support, while also pushing for important quality-of-life improvements.
These include:
- Ease of access – Fixing the student portal, improving the UofG Life app, and streamlining any other vital student interfaces (such as MyCampus)
- Improved Hands-on learning – Pushing for more up-to-date practical teaching and labs, ensuring CoSE students have much more engaging opportunities to apply their theory.
- Crucial course evaluations – Midterm feedback instead of just end-of-course reviews, so issues can be raised and fixed when they still matter.
- True out-of-hours access – Ensuring students can properly use their study spaces, such as the Rankine and James Watt buildings, and reopening Boyd Orr for computer science students, while improving upkeep of existing study spaces.
These aside, I’m still absolutely committed to working with societies, the class reps, and students from all levels to make your voice heard. If something has been overlooked, I’ll fight for it.
Vote Salem – Let’s fix what’s broken!
Ben Jones (he/him)

My name is Ben Jones (he/him), and I’m a 3rd-year physics student. If elected, I will use my years of experience in student representation and my passion for education to improve communication between class representatives and students, avoiding a reliance on largely ignored online surveys. This will create real, constructive dialogues that lead to meaningful change.
Many non-honours students struggle to raise concerns, leading to a culture of internalisation and silent struggle. I want to establish regular student drop-ins and forums where representatives from different schools can collaborate, compare experiences, and find solutions to college-wide issues together. We are a community and should have opportunities to act as one.
Improving awareness of well-being support is also important to me. CoSE has some of the most demanding and stressful courses, yet many students are unaware of the fantastic services the SRC offers. I will push for better promotion of these workshops and resources throughout the college.
With a strong and caring student network, we can better tackle issues and improve the student experience for all. I hope my enthusiasm to make our voice heard is clear, and that I will give my all to this role. Thank you and vote Ben!
