Daniz Alasgarova
Hi everyone, my name’s Daniz and I’m a fourth- year Common Law student! After being an SRC Welcome Helper, I realised that I wanted to continue making a difference beyond those two weeks, so I’m running for Undergraduate Social Science Convenor. I’m passionate about representing the academic interests of our college and ensuring that everyone has a voice in shaping their university experience. When elected, I will work to bridge the gap between students and the University, making sure concerns are heard and effectively addressed.
My priorities are:
- Improving communication and transparency: I will be your approachable first point of contact, keeping you updated on key discussions at Council meetings, and working closely with SRC, Class & School reps.
- Advocating for student support: I’ll collaborate with the VP Education to enhance access to academic resources and more skill development opportunities.
- Enhancing Mental Health Services: I will push for better mental health support, especially during stressful periods like exams. Having experienced mental health challenges myself, I also aim to promote Peer Wellbeing Support training across colleges.
I would be honoured to represent you, and I thank you for your support!
Mari Shuvalova
Hi there! My name is Mari Shuvalova and I’m a 2nd year International Relations student looking to be your new Undergraduate Social Sciences Convenor.
I’m passionate about incorporating change and improving student learning conditions. Having been a Student Council member in high school and a class rep during my 1st year here, I loved working alongside peers and staff to make learning more fun and accessible.
Furthermore, as a Ukrainian who lived and studied in England and China, I enjoy assisting students from different demographics and if needed, communicating with them in either Ukrainian, French or Russian.
Getting involved with the SRC allows me to directly boost your learning experience as social science students! If elected, here are some of my goals:
- Establishing a stable communication between senior staff and SPS students to ensure that students witness the significant impact of their feedback.
- Campaigning for more international student support by incorporating workshops to help them thrive in a new cultural environment.
- Promoting SRC services for SPS students by using posters and digital displays to ensure that students are aware of the support system available to them.
Vote Mari to become the academic weapon you deserve to be!
