I aim to:
- Enhance communication between the post-graduate community and wider university.

Han Chen
As an international MSc student in Digital Society, I’ve developed strong communication and collaboration skills through diverse internships. During my time as Deputy Leader of the planning team for the National College Student Advertising Art Competition, I coordinated a creative team to deliver complex projects, which involved organizing tasks and collaborating with diverse stakeholders. This experience taught me the importance of listening, managing different viewpoints, and leading initiatives, skills that are crucial for the role of General Representative.
In this position, I will focus on strengthening representation for students, a key area for the SRC this year. I plan to engage directly with students, organize feedback sessions, and collaborate with Student Officers to ensure their voices are heard and addressed. My previous internship at Taizhou Radio and Television Group, where I gathered local news and edited content, has enhanced my ability to convey complex ideas effectively and work under pressure, preparing me to handle student concerns promptly and efficiently.
My aim is to foster inclusivity and ensure every student’s voice is represented, helping the SRC create a more cohesive and supportive university environment.
Sarah Millar
My name is Sarah Millar, I’m a second year History student and I’m running for General Representative.
I’m from Glasgow, but I’ve lived in Germany, China and Dubai too, so I know how intimidating it can be to move to a new place – but also how exciting and fun it can be! As General Representative, I would be dedicated to making sure people get the most out of their university experience, both socially and academically – regardless of if they’re a home or international student.
I was a Welcome Week Helper with the SRC this year, so I have experience running and helping out at events, and I would love to continue doing this.
I’ve been a class rep, meaning I have experience liaising between staff and students – and I love doing it! I would aim to increase links between departments and students, and in turn, make this more accessible in general. One way this could happen is through the academic societies, and help them establish stronger connections to their respective departments.
I am also passionate about student welfare and making sure students feel supported and included. Increasing awareness of services the SRC already offer is also a goal of mine.
Eoghan Morris
Hello! My name is Eoghan, I’m a final year Politics with Quants (woo Q-Step!) student and I’d like to represent you as an SRC General Representative.
As a Fresher's Helper, I was inspired by the SRC's dedication to student success. I'd love to contribute to their mission to provide students with more opportunities to thrive!
As General Representative my promises to you include:
I will advocate for increased accessibility resources and support, especially in light of the cost-of-living crisis, working with relevant council members to ensure equal, fair and full representation for all students.
Fight for an expanded financial aid and support measures to help students navigate the cost-of-living crisis and raise awareness of issues impacting student physical, social, emotional, and financial well-being.
Liaise with relevant members of the council to promote the SRC Advice Services across campus ensuring students are aware of the support available to them and resolve any issues which may arise.
Ensure all students, regardless of year, faculty, or background, have a voice in shaping the University by maintaining an open line of communication with students, responding to their opinions, views, and queries.
Hana Saleem
My name is Hana Saleem, and I am running for the General Representative Position. In this role, I aim to represent my fellow peers by actively listening to and sharing feedback with the SRC to promote active reform in the University.
If elected, I pledge to be involved in SRC event organisation, fundraising, campaigning, and generally offering support to students. Additionally, I will promote the SRC by strengthening engagement between students and the Council. I will encourage student involvement on campus by sharing available opportunities within the University framework. Further, I plan on collaborating with Student Officers, Academic Convenors and Sabbatical Officers to improve student welfare, experience and life at the University. My past experience as a long-standing member of the student council has given me valuable insight into how communicating with students in a healthy and respectful manner creates an overall positive outcome.
As a General Representative, I aim to compile student perspectives and channel all feedback to the Council for the betterment of student and campus life. Thank you for reading my manifesto, and feel free to contact me for any questions!
Mariama Sowe
My name is Mariama Sowe, a second-year common law undergraduate student. I wish to take on the role as a general representative. I believe every student regardless of year, or course deserves to be heard and validated, hence why I am here to ensure of its execution.
It can get difficult trying to figure things out with so much going on, but with me as general representative, a smoother university life you will get.
If elected, I would aim to:
- Create a safe space for students by ensuring decisions made by the council are in their benefit.
- Advocate for student’s wants/needs
- Secure more study spaces.
- Create more food, social/recreational spaces around campus.

Edban Donald Watt
Hey there! My name is Edban Watt. I am a post graduate student in the MSc Mechanical Engineering and Management program, having graduated from the University of Rochester in the United States only this past spring with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in economics.
Throughout my senior year at the University of Rochester, I was an elected senator of the Students’ Association Government and was a part of the Campus Life Committee, holding responsibility over the transportation and student activities subcommittees. Simultaneously, I was president of a student focused mental health advocacy organization called Active Minds, primarily driving a campaign to increase student awareness of mental health resources on campus as well as hosting workshops to educate students on positive mental health management strategies.
Similar to how I have continued my pursuits in higher education immediately after my undergraduate experience, I want to continue to advocate for and support the fellow students around me as a general representative of the Student Representative Council. Though I have come to Scotland of my own accord, I am unable to neglect the importance of collective growth by supporting and integrating myself into the communities that surround me.
Mia Wynn
I am Mia Wynn, and since coming to the University of Glasgow, the Students Representative Council has been a necessary tool in ensuring my wellbeing and excitement as a first year. Coming a long way from home, my only goal at university was figuring out which way to look when crossing the road. That might seem like an insignificant detail about moving to another country, but with resources like the SRC, there are very few things I have to face with uncertainty. I had never been to Glasgow before committing to this university, and I want to help those who are making or will make this same leap of faith. The few weeks I have been here have proven my decision to be right, and I want to work with the SRC to prove to other students, international or not, that taking risks that seem unimaginable are worth it. I would love to work with the SRC’s social media accounts to get information out into the student body and to help students from other countries understand what it's like to attend UofG. I aspire to work diligently with the SRC to enhance comfortability within my peers during our time here.
Kelly Yu
Hi, I’m Kelly (she/her), a fourth-year English Literature/Film & TV Studies student and I’m running to be one of your General Representatives!

- Contributed to improving diversity in reading lists, pedagogies and assessment methods in the School of Critical Studies as a project intern over two years.
- Exchanged in Singapore, offered a new experience and fresh perspective on university as a home student in UofG.
If elected, I will:
- Advocate for additional support targeted at Home and International Students: Develop/Expand mentorship programme for incoming first years, organise school-related introductory mixers, allow participation in sports clubs on a ‘pay-as-you-go’ basis with a daily gym pass.
- Push for better catering services to support student wellbeing: Vending machines to be re-stocked more frequently, offer a wider selection of food aside from snacks, cheaper food and drink options in response to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
- Reform and promote student network groups: Expanding existing SRC Student Networks beyond Facebook to another social media site, such as Discord, which allows for complete anonymity.
Vote Kelly for General Representative!
