Naomi Gillies (she/they)
Hello! I’m Naomi (they/she), a theatre and sociology student, and I would be honoured to continue to be your LGBTQ+ Officer! Working alongside the SRC for Welcome Week for several years has given me useful insight into how the SRC works, and my experience on the GULGBTQ+ committee has given me first hand experience on what it means to be part of a team. If reelected, I will ensure every voice is heard, representing the interests of the queer student body by:
- Maintaining strong ties with GULGBTQ+ Students Association.
- Building strong ties with Out in Stem.
- Approaching intersectional work with the Gender Equality and Race Equality officers to ensure actions and policies towards inclusive representation of the entire LGBTQ+ student community.
- Continuing to support VPSS in the successful organisation of Trans Day of Remembrance, a meaningful LGBTQ+ History Month and a strong Trans Day of Visibility.
- Signposting appropriate resources and providing immediate action and support regarding sexual orientation or gender identity harassment.
- Maintaining constant communication with LGBTQ+ university associations to enhance awareness of concerns arising within the LGBTQ+ student community.
