Nemish Laddad
Hi, I am Nemish Laddad (he/him), from Pune, India, and I am running for election as the Representative for the School of Engineering.
First and foremost, I think there is a huge gap between teachers’ and students’ ideas of university, and that fostering communication between core students and teachers is primary. If elected, I will push for wider communication within the University, and more meetings between a larger body of students and teachers.
As the current Vice President of the Engineering Society, I will use my experience to help develop opportunities and inclusivity for all students – including widespread opportunity for personal, academic, and professional growth within the school.
I will also advocate for clear policies, open communication, and student representation on relevant committees, to better transparency and accountability within the School of Engineering. I aim to ensure that engineering students have a voice in key decision-making processes within the school, such as curriculum development.
If elected, I will cherish a more positive, student-led school of thought within the School of Engineering, and ensure that every student’s voice is heard, respected, and understood.
Max Thomson
Hi there! My name is Max, and I’m a 2nd year Mechanical Engineering student. I am running for the role of School of Engineering Representative so I can work to tackle the issues faced by my fellow students, and to contribute to improving the Engineering student experience for all future year groups to come.
Having spent this year on council in the role of General Representative, I have a good understanding of how the process works, and I can use this knowledge to swiftly deal with any issues brought to me.
My priorities:
- Push the School of Engineering to ensure that all exam results are published by the deadlines provided.
- Liaise regularly with Class Reps, to ensure that I am up to date with issues affecting all Engineering disciplines, and communicate important issues to the College Convener of Science & Engineering.
- To always be readily available via email and quick to help you with any problems you may be facing.
If elected, I will be committed to making your experience as an Engineering student at the University of Glasgow the best it can be!
