Suzanne Blackburn
Hi, my name is Suzanne, but I prefer Suzi.
I am a mature student, 2nd year Ancient History undergrad. Prior to beginning my degree, I worked towards my DipHE Egyptology through the university’s Lifelong Learning programme. I am also class Rep for Classics 2 and Arabic IM2, and Vice President of the Mature Student’s Association.
Through my years of studying here at UofG and my time as Class Rep and VP for the MSA, I have gained a far greater insight into the various issues that mature students have and will face during their time here. Therefore, it is my intention to work for mature students to make us all feel more appreciated, valued, represented, supported, and above all, be given the same opportunities as our younger peers.
Goals:
- Secure investment to improve the MSA building, facilities and services, with emphasis that this is the only dedicated association solely for mature students.
- Work with services across campus to better support the varied and complex needs of mature students.
- Implementing regular sessions for mature students to attend for a chat, gather feedback, and give suggestions on how their university experience can be improved.
