Suzanne Blackburn
Hi, my name is Suzanne (Suzi). (She/Her)
I am a mature student, 3rd year Ancient History undergrad. Prior to beginning my degree, I achieved a DipHE Egyptology through the university’s Lifelong Learning programme. I am also Vice President of the Mature Student’s Association for the 2nd year running.
Through my years of studying here at UofG, as Age Equality Officer and VP for the MSA, I have gained a greater insight into the various issues that mature students will face during their time here. As a recognised protected group, I have been working to give mature students the representation and recognition that they deserve. Therefore, it is my intention to continue working to ensure that mature students have the same access to support and opportunities as our younger peers.
Goals:
- Continue the work that I started to secure investment to improve the MSA building, facilities and services, with emphasis that this is the only dedicated association solely for mature students.
- Work with services across campus to better support the varied and complex needs of mature students.
- Work with the SRC to improve involvement of the Age Equality Officer in working groups to address the needs of this protected group.
