Amy Hutchison
Hello! My name is Amy, a third-year MEduc student, and I am running to be re-elected as a Widening Participation (WP) Officer.
Over the course of the year, I gained experience with the SRC through being the current WP Officer but also through sitting on the Welfare Team in Council, representing the SRC on the Library Committee, being a Class Representative, and actively working on the committees of the RAG, GUESS, Mary’s Meals, and RARE Aware Societies.
My experiences have sparked a passion for advocating for student voices, and I would like to continue to ensure students' voices are heard through being reelected. During my new time on Council, I will continue to work towards a more inclusive environment that benefits all students by:
- Liaising with the different Colleges to implement specific support for WP students depending on their course.
- Creating both academic and student life opportunities for WP students as well as making existing opportunities more accessible to WP students.
- Increasing WP students' connectivity with WP-related support services.
- Working with outreach programmes to support prospective WP students in applying to the UofG.
Everyone deserves the right to a successful education, and I am committed to fighting for this right.
Hannah Watters
Hello! My name is Hannah, and I’m a second year Theatre/Politics student. During my time at Glasgow I have worked closely with the SRC through being a class representative and on the welcome helping team. As I hope to bring a fresh perspective to council, and helping support my fellow students. If elected I would -
- Following in the footsteps of other universities Support starting a discussion about building a well-being room(s) on campus.
- Try to facilitate more frequent WP mixers. We face umpteen barriers to participating in the ‘hidden curriculum’, and so creating a space for students to come together more frequently is critical.
- Support the promotion of welfare and equal opportunity officers contact details. We are here to represent you. Whether face-to-face or via email, I would hope to be available to hear your thoughts.
- Support the transitions programs at UofG. All new WP students should have a smooth a journey as possible.
- To work with my fellow welfare officers to try and institute act as neurodivergent/ sensory friendly study spaces.
I have personal lived experience in numerous welfare areas,, and would hope to work closely with other representatives to create the most inclusive and welcoming UofG possible.
